The system should be tilted fair, all pay 20%. That is it. It should NOT be weighed on how successful or unsuccessful you are, that is not fair. Cool, but what about those that make only 10,000 a year? I feel that those taking 2 or 3 months Vacation a year, and have 4 or 5 houses can afford to pay more, and shouldn't ***** about it. Many peoples children still go to bed hungry at night because their parents arent poor enough for welfare and not rich enough to live comfortably week to week while juggling which bill to pay when! If they want to share the wealth with their employees then the Tax burden would be shared as well. (What better incentive to pay higher wages and keep down prices) I'm not against taxes. Id gladly pay 300,000 a year if I could make a million in wages. While I'm at it hiker, I would make sure an equal number of these CEO and Senator son's were drafted. After a few nights in Afghanistan with a poor redneck hillbilly maybe he would be more apt to pay him more when they are both civilians again, and less likely to outsource his job! Fanta, Yes, that might enlighten them on the problems the poor face in this country and others. But I don't think it will ever happen. "Fanta for President" Write me in................ |

So why can there not be a simple flat tax?
0 to 10k - 0% 10 to 50 - 10% 50 to 100k - 20% and so on. Now, you can adjust the transitions and percentages to appropriate values, which should be reviewed periodically to ensure the burden stays distributed appropriately. No tax forms - you just have it taken as the last part of your pay. Still allow the 'pre-tax' deductions as we now do for things like retirement contributions, health care, babysitting, whatever. State tax is handled in the same way. Social Security and such are handled the same way they are now. Corporations are handled in the same way, with appropriate levels and transitions. Get caught just because you made "just' over a certain point? Tough, that happens now. Earn more next year. State taxes get voted upon by the residents. No state tax for any item may be charged, unless the voters approve the amount and item. A general sales tax of 'x' percent (let's say 3%) may be enacted, but anything over that requires a vote. Taxes such as gas - which is *supposed* to go for roads and such - are mandated now to go towards the purpose approved by voters. No magic pots of money changing around, This is what you got, this is what you use. People don't like the roads, they can vote more $ towards it. States now become accountable entities to the populace they serve - including full financial disclosures for every penny. |
