I've lived in NY my whole life....
I'm not even sure I can do it......... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

A good friend of mine used this very term last night. She suggested it means to be assertive, frank, and open.
I also believe there is some rampant liberalism and tree hugging involved. |

Don't know, but I plan on making my way to the east coast for grad school.. so I am sure I will eventually learn..lol

Tree hugging? Really? Do tell..... ![]() Yes, it is a derisive term used by certain segment of the population to describe those that are environmentally conscious. So yes, feel free to refer to me as that tree hugging liberal democratic Jew from NY |

All East Coasters can use it, as long as they display and practice East Coastishness. As well as others, as long as they display it as well.
Hiker definately fits in there... |

I think its more of a city term, but i dunno. I pasted it into my google search and found a blog called 7 Years in KY and its pretty much some NYC people bash KY people.

I lived in Montana for two years. I proudly displayed it there. Other than my ex-wife, I might have been the only practioner of East Coastishness in the state. |

In fact, she'll be passing through this way in a few weeks and we'll be meeting up for a day. As far as I know it's not anti-anything. At least as far as I'm concerned |

I'm from NY and I don't hug tree's...ouch! I'm not liberal, give me that back....and I'm NOT a Jew...here ya go honey, have some of mine. I don't hug trees either, but if you read Waterloo, he said this term is used to mean enviromentally aware. I'm not Jewish or a New Yorka, but I am still practicing East Coastishness... I even live in Ohio now! |

East coastishness? It's young, hip, cool and rockin'! Not young age-wise necessarily. It's all in the attitude. Most east coast folks can tell you that.
