Don't you think group therapy is a useful tool?

In a clinical setting, lead by a trained and licensed therapist? Sure. It can be.

JSH is not that, by far.

My opinion..... hmmm..

I don't think I would ever share with people if I was psychiatrically hospitalized in a locked mental health facility..... under any circumstances.

That is private and really, too much information. JMO

As to gender separation? I'll leave that to hospital administrators as to what they feel is in the best interests of thier patients.

You wouldn't for your own reasons and correct in what applies to you. She feels no qualms about it, feels that it is what feels right for her and is equally correct in that it's right for her.

Regarding the OP. With separate sex bedrooms I don't see a problem with mixed wards, supervised of course.

i dont see a problem with mixed wards either, its good to communicate with men and women, and the staff are male and female. and the bedrooms are for same sex only.

If you are admitted to any hospital (for reasons psychiatric or otherwise) isn't THAT the bigger issue? I'm not sure that co-ed wings of the facility would be my primary concern. As for sharing your story, it's your call but I tend to think that your sharing it here might not be the world's greatest idea. Still, I hope you are feeling better.
