I've never done the acid trip thang. I did walk next to a friend who was on one though and kept assuring her she needn't pick her feet up quite soooo high as the ground truly was not moving or sloping or anything she seemed to believe was happening, so I believe from my limited experience of observation you may well have nailed the trip tick to the wall......
