Do you have any computer games that require you have the CD/DVD in the drive to play?

NO. I have a few games but nothing that elaborate.

The reason I was asking is because there is a CD/DVD protection software that is used on many games, which will kill your CD/DVD drive.

that could be the problem. I once tried to copy a dvd movie that had something like that on there.

The rule of thumb: If it has Starforce, don't buy it or use it. Period.

Here is a website that will walk you through removing it. http://www.glop.org/starforce/remove.php

If the driver has been installed, it's there and running forever, until it's uninstalled. Even when it's not needed...even when there is no disc in the tray, it's running.

Would it prevent my disk drives from opening when I push the open button?

I suppose it could, in theory, but I've seen no reports of this type of behavior....Other possible culprits are hardware (Pioneers tend to be buggy in this manner), and Windows security policies, which can be configured in such a way so that if you insert removable media it is cached in your profile. If you log off, and another user with equal/weaker permissions logs on, they will be unable to access that media (including ejection). It can also be configured so that media cannot be ejected if the desktop is locked under any profile.
As StarForce modifies the ACL for the drive, it could be a security interaction problem.

If your phone has internet access, you should be able to email them to the site admins.
