Topic: Over fifty do you think we are to set in our ways? | |

Being a widow for 11 years I am afraid I might be to set in my ways. I like to think I am flexible and willing to compromise.
This topic has probably been posted many times before. |

I think we have prob. put down "some" roots and it is hard to just pick up and move too far..Since I have gotten older I have just now started thinking of being in a happy, adult relationship. I have repeatedly gone with the young ones and am looking for someone my age that likes to travel or go walk on the Strand but NOT hang out in bars anymore.

I don’ t think it matters.
What ultimately matters is what a partner is going to expect from you. I’m seriously not interested in a relationship with a woman who is going to expect anything from me, other than honesty and openness. But if she has any expectations beyond that forget it. My point being that at my age I’m willing to cohabitate with someone. But if she’s going to expect me to entertain her, or go with her places all the time, then she’d do better to hire an escort. I’m a homebody. That’s who I am. If I accidentally meet a woman who just happens to be compatible with then, then fine, - we’re a match. Otherwise we’re just not compatible. Couldn’t be simpler. The last thing I need is a dependent, or someone who is depending on me to make her life meaningful. The idea is to share who we are. If we have to change who we are to be in a relationship then we defeat the whole purpose of it. May as well just stay single. |

Topic: Over fifty do you think we are to set in our ways? Its human nature to resist change. If you want to adapt to new things you have to fight off that resistance.. Change is good and if you dont accept it you will not advance. The computer is a prefect example of that. Some people over 50 are so set in their ways they wont even try to learn the computer. Look at all they are missing just becasue they dont want to change and try something new.Im not set in my ways Im always ready to learn something new. |

What are you going to school for? Algebra comes in handy every day depending on what career you have. I was in electronics and its all based on math. In my career I had to go to school all the time things in electronics are always changing. |

Too bad we don't live close. I could teach you algebra in no time at all and you'd actually enjoy it. Believe it or not.
Algebra's actually fun stuff. It's the way they teach it that makes it so yucky. Calculus is even more fun, but that's a whole other story. |

I was just starting to enjoy algebra until I found out my tutor was married
Well, imagine my dismay when I discovered my piano teacher is not only married, but she's also 90 years old and has arthritis so bad she can't even play anymore. Actually she isn't my piano teacher. I decided to keep searching for other possiblities. |

I don't feel that I'm set in my ways, but I do have opinions about what I will and wont' do. I love change. I'm a gypsy and spontaneous. I find that many men my age are not very adventuresome and cling to certain ways of looking at things.

I think everyone gets into ruts not and then. But I enjoy breaking out of ruts, finding new things, broadening my horizons. As long as I don't get lost!

I tend to be set in my ways, but the problem is I don't want to be. I want to change. I want to have more energy, get up early and go for a walk, be more organized, pamper myself more, and many other things I would like to change.
Instead I stay up too late, drag out of bed in the morning, there is too much clutter in my house, so many things I want to do, and time speeds by so fast I blink and it is time for bed again. I need professional help. Is the illusion of time speeding up? Or am I just approaching the singularity? Days go by so fast I can almost watch the sun streak across the sky. JB |

I probably am set in my ways; but nothing that can't be changed if I needed to change them.

I thought I was "stuck" in my ways and habits. I had a great job, making the best money I had ever made, Living by myself in a cute little place, no TV, just music and internet. I was reading every night. I read 15 Danniell Steele, and about 13 John Grisham books in 2 months. Had a cutey down the way, when it was time for, you know, and then Dad had a stroke and Life changed as I knew it. That's ok though! I now am in a warm place with more opportunities than I had before. So much for being "stuck". Oh, what a relief!!
