Mostly that happens because we surround ourselves with people we like being around, and of course that usually means they are of a similar consistency. They like similar things or feel the same way about topics etc. We spend our time with people who think the same way we do, so we come to believe our perspective, is the correct one. Then we come online and are exposed to people who are not at all like us. They come from all sorts of backgrounds, experiences, cultures etc. We discover that our perspective is just one perspective. Some folks freak out about that. They may even think people are disagreeing with them for the sake of argument, or to attack them personally. And may attack (back) in what they think is a response. Then some of them get used to it, and grow, and become a more layered, interesting person as a result. so well said Klc. Welcome to Mingle truthreigns - it seems as though most have already adequately answered, but here's my 2 cents worth of blah blah. There are different topics and you need to see which suit you, your personality and how much you want to interact, you will notice that honesty gets appreciated and rewarded as does following the simple rules, just as with anything in life! There are some pretty amazing people here and you need to get to know them to see through the blah blah.......good luck. |

Background:
I dated a rather pompous, self-indulgent, arrogant, know-it-all, who'd traveled the world and had a rather condescending attitude when it came to fine dining. He asked me to book at a very lavish and obscenely overpriced restaurant so he could show me how people really eat (I grew up in Africa so no Brownie points there and whilst growing up I worked during the weekends and some school breaks in restaurants owned by friends and had eventually attended courses on wine tasting etc...as it interested me). We were sitting at the (seafood) restaurant and he said that he would order seeing as he knew best. First course Oysters with Moet (I dislike both), but I went along interested and keen to improve my knowledge. The oysters were on crushed ice, with pink Himalayan salt and red peppercorns. I watched in awe and shock as he took the fork and started eating the ice and peppercorns ........and then I  and to this day when I see people eating oysters I
