punishable as a crime for many years, in the U.S..

Man shall not lie with another man...
Homosexuality was punished by imprisonment in
many U.S. states. Still punished by death in
many other countries.

Thou shalt not bear false witness. Lying to a
cop, is charged criminally, as giving false
statement. Lying under oath in court will get
you charged with perjury.

Morality, is very much entwined with legality.
