its there really a heaven and a hell?

I believe there is. But I also thin that hell isn't what people really think it is. I think hell is refusing to be happy and being stuck in this frame of mind with all of your sorrows..
Some believe earth is hell..

Heaven is a state of mind.. It is what you make of it. That's what I believe anyway.. Then again it is 4:30 am here.. laugh
laugh laugh heaven jsh hell cant find a date

rofl Well, to each their own. If jsh is your heaven, then I hope you're paradise is grand.. laugh

What do some of you think the key to happiness is?

Being able to accept yourself for who you are, instead of trying to be something you were never meant to be.

Very good answer! I definitely agree. Here's some food for thought.

An equal use of the left and right brain hemisphere. Creativity is a passion that is limitless with possibilities. Yet thinking logically helps to distinguish differences and problem solving. However, what if you used both equally? Imagine the possibilities...

Part of the problem is that people use the logical side either too much, or not enough. To find the balance would be a great thing. Unfortunately, many cannot do that. So many factors go into being able to find the proper balance, that any number of people can get close, but not many can find it.

Problem solving ability comes from an ability to think around problems instead of directly through them. The path of least resistance is not always the best way to go, but if you can find that path, then you can determine from there which is the best way to tackle an issue.

Very wise words.. I believe that is definitely one of the keys to happiness.. To find that balance. There is so much potential there. Then people would have the ability to creatively solve their problems. I believe I am very close to achieving this. But this would also mean much more than just problem solving. It would mean that you achieve a balance of self generally.

I think the balance of self comes from the acceptance of self.

Once you accept yourself for who you are, many things become easier to deal with. Once those things become easier to deal with, it becomes a cycle where everything becomes easier to deal with.

Just my way of thinking I guess. :-)

Veery true! I believe it's a combination of both myself. I certainly know that before you can be happy you have to be happy with yourself. However if you can find some sort of balance in your life I think that aids in this happiness. What do think?

Question.. Do you all believe that life can be as simple or as complex as people make it? I mean I try to simplify things as much as possible. But do you believe that situations do not complicate things, people do?

I think, therefore I cease being bored.

Also, after having tried to understand/read Einstein's Theory of Relativity, I decided that the complexity of reality is zillions of simple things interacting. If a person becomes expert at a few simple things, they are worthy of respect for that achievement.

laugh I know the feeling! I would definitely have to say you make a very good point!

Ha cha cha cha!!
You made me smile! This is a GOOD night! happy

I do not think we are alone. The universe is infinite. It sure would be a waste of space if we were the only one's to occupy it.
ok ! you got that from Jodie Foster !!laugh

laugh You know what? I didn't even think about that until you said something! Yes I guess I did! laugh

I honestly think it's one of the most valid arguments.

The sheer size of the Universe makes the odds pretty good that there is other life out there.

I think it was Carl Sagan that said if even one percent of the stars in the Universe had a planet like ours, and only one percent of those had the right combinations for life, and even one percent of those actually had life...there would still be billions of life forms out there.

Definitely something to consider.

Very true sir! I mean how can we rule out anything without proof either way? I firmly believe that anything is possible. There may even be other dimensions. There have been many theories out there, but no one has been able to prove it isn't possible.

OMG!!! You would not believe the amount of trouble I got myself into over on the SETI@home forums because of that exact way of thinking.

The way I see it....how can we say that something is impossible, when we have yet to learn all things that AE possible?

Exactly!
laugh Trouble??

Absolutely. People who allow themselves to get stressed out are normally not well equipped to deal with life as it comes along. The more they get stressed, the more complicated things seem or wind up being.

I totally agree! How can someone think clearly when they are too busy worrying about something that will most likely never come to pass? I always try to calmly rationalize things. You can be a lot more productive that way.
