It was not an authorization of force, but many agree(as do I)that it is just another step in Bush's march to war with Iran. Obama did miss that vote. Dodd also voted no.

It's true Obama did not show up for the vote, but he had a good reason. HE WAS NOT A MEMBER OF THE U.S. SENATE. The vote to authorize the Iraq war was in Oct. 2002. Obama was not elected to the Senate until Nov. 2004 and took office in Jan. 2005.

Agreed blank. You also have to consider who is saying what. I know some old(very old) white men who still call blacks "colored". They don't mean any disrespect. They're just living 40-50 years in the past.

The Babe hit 60 and 714 while eating hot dogs, drinking beer, smoking cigars and chasing skirts til all hours of the night. Can you imagine what his numbers would be if he had taken the Bonds route?

You are a classic example, blonderocker, of what needs fixing in our system. A friend of mine suggested that we take away the healthcare plans of the president and every member of congress. And they could have it back when they figured out a plan for the rest of us, too.

I happen to be married to a Canadian(not very happily, but that's another story). As such, I have spent a lot of time in Canada and know a lot of Canadians. The differences between the US and Canada are a frequent topic of discussion.

I haven't spoken to one Canadian who would trade their system for ours. Bottom line is that our US system is badly in need of repair. Be it public, private or some combination, we should be able to get everyone covered. I would hope that everyone would agree on that.
