There were ten houses for sale by tender. The market value of each house was valued at $30,000.00 per house.
He found the man in charge of the tenders and asked him how the bidding worked. The man told him to make a bid, put ten percent of the bid in an envelope, add his name and phone number and hand it in. When the tenders are open,if you're the only tender on the house, you get the tender.
He made his tender, put the ten percent in the envelope,added his name and phone number, thanked the man and left.
He received the call about three months later. The man on the other end told him he had won the tender for the house and that he owed him ninety cents, and he had sixty days to collect his house. The man laughingly told him he had never seen the likes of a tender for a dollar.
Three days later he had the house loaded on his semi truck and trailer.
The house sat on his acreage until a year later when a friend called and asked to buy the house.
He sold the house for five hundred dollars and a twenty year exclusive business contract.
A true story of the $1 house.
