And its a family affair. we have a guy here working like 20 hours a day to make the money for his sons house (apartment) down payment. The kid doesn't even have a girl friend.. but he never will unless he can entice one with the down payment money.. The girls are pressured to get married before 28, or they run the risk of being classified as a 'left over" crazy place. Yup agreed crazy place

The 2 scammers I came across were 51 and lived in the US. one worked outside the country at the moment and was coming back. They acted like I was what they wanted in love so be careful women. I actually do work outside the country and am actually coming back. But I know what you mean. I few times when asked I told the truth and that was met each time with: Get lost you friggin scammer bastard!!! Lol.. so now I just say..I work in Jersey, if asked. Devildog.. at least they tell you to get lost. My case was they just block me!

I spend a bit of time in China. One of my workers was pregnant, so I asked her and others around ( thru my translator) the obvious. " so.. is it a boy or a girl".. they all just said.. ohhh..no.no.no. Then proceeded to tell me that it is illegal in mainland China for the doctor to tell anyone what the sex is before the birth... because here in China they want boys.. not girls. If they know the sex and know it is a girl, many people will terminate the pregnancy.. and try again.. and again until they get that boy. They told me this matter of factly, as I just stared at them in disbelief. My translator whispered to me that many doctors.. if you give them money.. will tell you. And that is one reason the male to female rate here in China is soo lop sided Yes give the red packet and your queries shall be answered! But marrying a china gal is not cheap, high dowery.. so giving birth to a gal should have more benefits!! 
Yeah, for the ones who make the cut. I think the ratio is like 4 males to every female. And the women ARE picky.. they can be. they want the best they can get, which has lead to a bzillion regular " Joe Shmoe" Chinese guys with basically no chance to find a girl friend or wife. The male factory workers and laborer type have a almost zero chance of attracting a mate. It is a big social problem here which has lead to many very depressed guys. During one recent prostitution raid one of the customers ( a young guy) was asked "why?.. he said. " well, where else can I touch a woman's hair or face or kiss a woman. Pretty sad. Sad but guys are crazy to even willing to pay such a high price.. all these is because of 'face'! If the guys or family couldn't afford to buy an apartment then there's extremely low chances of finding a bride.. On the other hand Most woman in china don't work.. they are seeking for opportunities. Foreigners will be their first target so the remaining chinese guys will have even tougher competition.
