Sparkling Crystal and Bluegrass brought up an interesting concept on alphas! There are true alphas and the fakes. The real ones are successful, self confident, in control people. They know where they are going in life and how they plan on getting there. They have very little drama in their lives and they usually become the "go to" people. They are the ones you call when something goes wrong or you hope is standing beside you for they will be able to handle whatever the problem is or give you excellent advice.

Then there are the fakes! They saw daddy being "the man" when they were growing up or somebody told them "what being a man was all about". They do not have the experience, drive, or knowledge to accomplish much of anything other than tell someone what their place is. I commonly use the term Azzhole or B++ch to describe them. Usually the first true indication is lots of talk and demands but few accomplishments. I suspect these are the ones Bluegrass is referring to.

It seems that the true alpha has a hard time with relationships. Their ideal is another alpha that they view as an equal partner in life. They have high expectations of each other!! When 2 alphas join forces as a couple, they rule whatever they wish. The Obamas may have been such a couple. The second possibility is a dominate/submissive relationship. We see this in some of the fundamentalist religions where the man is the head of the household and the wife is a mother and homemaker. He makes the family decisions and she follows his lead. Outside of religion we see a similar situation in a D/s relationship where one partner gives all control to the other for some situations. It is the Doms responsibility to make the decisions and look after both of them. This is by mutual agreement as to the extent, time limit, and circumstance of control.
